LOWVELD SQUASH NEWS
Jan 2012
A provisional date has been set for this years’ AGM, so (for now) keep Tuesday, 21 February 2012 from 18h00 hosted by LVCCbowls club (closest to the squash courts) open and available…  The possible alternative date is the following day (22 February).

In light of the AGM, and Winter League Entries for 2012, please ensure that all club champs are finalised by 1 March 2012.  This means your ladder must be settled and only normal challenges remain (as per the normal squash season).

Summer League starts 26 January, info. to follow shortly…  Doubles, bell-tournament and other mixed strength formats will be used to encourage and expose player of all strengths to the game…

League dates will be as follows;
Tuesday – 3rd league
Wednesday – 2nd league
Thursday – 1st league and 4th league
League starts Tuesday 9 April 2012and will run as below;
9 April – 22 June(11 weeks); and
16 July –end of pool (usually September).
There will probably be no league the week of 10 - 13 May Lowveld hosting of the annual SACD & SACF tournament.
Please note we’ve made accommodation for public and school holidays, but should you have a specific need for bye’s on a date (tournaments, etc.) please let me know ASAP, as I’m finalising these dates as we speak (last notice will be accepted at the Chairman’s meetings for changes to these dates/ venues).
Finally, if we have the situation like last year with 5 or fewer teams in a league, there will be two full rounds of matches (so games will last till September).

R 170.00 p/player before the league starts.
The fees will be increased to R 200.00 p/player if paid after the league has started (i.e. from 1 May the fees will increase).

The SACD sub-committee has been hard at work raising funds and preparing for this national tournament.  We will have SuperSportand SABC TV coverage.  M-Power, and Radio Laeveld and Jacaranda FM, have indicated they will cover the event, and may also broadcast courtside…  The Lowvelder will be carrying a full pull-out of all events and fixtures for the entire week of the tournament.
Teams will be staying at a central venue (Bhundu Lodge), with functions and events organised so that the friendly spirit of the area, and the best squash all share time on and off court…
All courts are to be used in the region, and we’re expecting over 200 participants.  This opportunity to support Lowveld Squash, and generate exposure for your brand/ company or self, is an easy option to take on. Please consider, and contact this committee (via myself), to discuss options.
Options start from R1,000, so are very affordable…

The Lowveld SACD Selection Champs will take place 17-18 March, so that we can enter the strongest possible teams into the SACD, with enough time to prepare fully for a successful tournament.
Men’s and ladies selections are going to take place at this event so make sure you’re ready and there…

The juniors will again be slugging it out 4 & 5Februaryin Secunda, for the Mpumalanga Junior Champs

John will be hosting various development clinics as follows;
·         Nelspruit (28 January)
·         Barberton (tbc)
